The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University (DDU Gorakhpur) came into existence in the year 1965 by the UP Legislature Assembly. But the University actually started functioning since 1957 when the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Law and Education were established. Faculties of Engineering, Medicine and Agriculture also came into existence in the following years.
